I consider myself to be both the white bird and the observer in this painting,

trapped for 43 years before I was able to fly away.

This painting I have titled “The Flapping of Wings”.

It illustrates the thrill of my feeling of self determination and freedom as I watch the birds and ducks fly off into the sunlit sky.

My wish is that if others looking at this illustration of freedom are also trapped in a similar controlled situation as I was, that they may be able to experience this thrill of choosing to let themselves loose to fly free also. The motivation for this choice comes from within us.
